Our Health Blogger turns 75

This is not an April Fool´s Day Joke. On Sunday, April 1, Erik Sprunk-Jansen turns 75.

 
Since leaving University 1960 as a chemical engineer Erik has had senior positions, developing a process for - and building a factory producing Hyper pure silicon, as managing director running a Zinc mine in Greenland and - as CEO - running a major pharmaceutical company - H. Lundbeck - www.lundbeck.com - for 17 years.
 
During those 17 years in H.Lundbeck, the market cap of the company grew 100 times from USD 70 mill to USD 7 billion, and from covering 9 European countries the company covered more than 50 countries around the world.
 
In the US a strategic alliance with Forest Labs - www.frx.com - meant that the key products
Celexa and Lexapro became very important antidepressants in the US.
 
Retiring in 2003 Erik wanted to work with scientifically based natural products under the brand Sprunk-Jansen and the prizewinning “butterfly concept”.
 
Erik’s experience is that being entrepreneur with a handful employees is much more demanding than being CEO for 6.000 employees.
 
That keeps him young.
 
Erik’s tough goal is to combine the - long forgotten - herbal traditions with the strict rules from the pharmaceutical industry : “ Science and Herbal Wisdom”.
 
Erik tries to add an entertaining angle to www.sprunk-jansen.com by writing small blogs. Coming from a time and background where you thought before you spoke he must sometimes overcome his scruples living up todays speed.

VOR HELSE BLOGGER FYLDER 75 ÅR
 
Dette er ikke en Første Aprils Joke. Erik Sprunk-Jansen fylder 75 søndag d. 1. april.
 
Efter at være blevet civilingeniør (kemi) i 1960 har Erik haft ledende stillinger med at udvikle en proces til - og en fabrik til - fremstilling af superrent silicium. Som direktør har han drevet en Zink-mine i Grønland og sidst i 17 år været koncernchef for H.Lundbeck A/S -www.lundbeck.com .
 
Gennem disse 17 år steg steg H. Lundbeck´s værdi på børsen 100 gange fra USD 70 mill til USD 7 mia. og fra at dække 9 europæiske lande til at dække over 50 lande verden over.
 
En strategisk alliance med Forest Labs - www.frx.com - i USA betød at nøgleprodukterne Celexa og Lexapro blev meget vigtige antidepressiver i USA.
 
Efter sin pensionering i 2003 gik Erik i gang med at arbejde med naturpræparater med videnskabeligt fundament under brandet Sprunk-Jansen og det internationalt prisvindende “butterfly concept”
 
Det er Eriks erfaring, at det er mere krævende at være entrepreneur med en håndfuld ansatte end topdirektør med 6000 ansatte.
 
Det holder ham ung.
 
Hans krævende mål er, at kombinere de - ofte forlængst glemte - traditioner for naturprodukter med den farmaceutiske industris krævende regler: Science and Herbal Wisdom.
 
For at gøre www.sprunk-jansen.com lidt underholdende skriver Erik små blogs. Men fra en tid, hvor man tænkte før man talte eller skrev, må han ofte overvinde sig selv for at leve op til nutidens verden.
